Travelling to Texas

If off to Houston, Texas. The flight leaves Seattle at 11:35 on Wednesday October 1st. I have an agent to book the flight, the hotel, and the rental car. The company is paying for the airfare, the hotel, and the rental car. SWEET!! The last time I did this, I had to pay for everything. But that was 22 years ago, my how times have changed.

My first stop will be the jobsite, which is an unknown at this point. But it’s somewhere east of Houston. In the Beaumont area I suspect, as that area has many industrial plants and oil refineries that were affected by Hurrincane Ike. The people I have dealt with so far are very nice and helpful. Much different from the fiasco of shipbuilding. But these people are all in the electrical field, not the total mashup that shipbuilding can be. God, how I despise the people in that industry. It’s some fantastic stuff to work on, but the intensity can bring even the most experienced people to their knees.

The Brothers

The Olympic Mountains are formed on the Olympic Peninsula in Western Washington by the Cascadia Subduction Zone. On a clear day they dominate the western view from Seattle. Some days, like this one you can just reach out and touch them. They are all that stand between the Pacific Ocean storms and the Pugetropolis.

Pismo Beach FTW…

My most favorite place on the planet. Besides western Washington. If I could afford to live in Pismo Beach, I’d move there in an instant.

Crescent City

The weather is nice and the sunsets are fantastic. A very laid back hippie town. :)

The second leg…

The drive to Grant’s Pass was in and out of the rain. After stopping for lunch, I missed most of the rain. There was a short snow shower after I checked into the motel. The hills around Grant’s Pass were covered in snow. And I really didn’t need to see the “Snow Area: carry chains or tractions tires” sign cuz the rental didn’t have either.

I was going to California, wtf do I need snow tires for?

The first leg…

I wanted to get the fuck out of dodge so bad I left late on Friday night in a rainstorm. The driving was ok, but the retards on the freeway made me stop in Centralia. I stayed at the Motel 6 only because I couldn’t find the Holiday Inn Express. Someone didn’t do their due diligence…

Yea, Motel 6. Where the internet doesn’t exist and the towels are like sandpaper.

Lovely.
