I was on my way to catch a ferry to Seattle early one morning. I was a volunteer at The Gnomedex conference sponsored by Chris Pirillo at the Waterfront Conference Center. As I was walking to the terminal I saw this scene of the sunrise over the waterfront. Fortunately I had my trusty Nikon D70 with me, although it was packed in my travel bag. As quickly as I could I assembled the proper lens and captured a couple of images. Then, just a quickly, stuffed the camera back in my travel bag and ran to catch the ferry. I didn’t know for a couple days what I had captured. But I think it is one of my more significant photographs.

It is naturally that orange. I cropped it a bit for the panorama style. Otherwise, it is right out of the camera.
